George, I enjoyed this essay and can understand your frustration. However, I have on 2 comments:

1. Why are you hanging out with these kinds of people?

2. Don't talk about it as though it will happen, rather, what are you doing to prepare for the extreme evets? We have an emergency kit, power supply and water supply put away. We also installed a heat pump, which will be great unless our hydropower runs out.
